Sounding like an unholy amalgamation of Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo jamming with Papa Emeritus of Ghost (with a few Black Sabbath riffs thrown in for good measure), Puppy’s brand of off kilter alt- rock meets heavy-metal has seen them winning accolades as one of British guitar music’s most innovative outfits since their inception in 2015. Signing with the legendary Spinefarm Records in 2017, the band issued two critically lauded EP’s (“Puppy” and “Vol.2”) before finally releasing their eagerly anticipated debut, “The Goat” in January 2019. Featuring production from Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Ghost) and Neil Kennedy (Boston Manor), it’s praise earned them support slots with the likes of Creeper, Kverlertak, CKY and Monster Magnet, as well as racking up festival appearances everywhere from Glastonbury to Bloodstock. At the tail end of 2019 the band released a follow up EP titled “iii”, which saw the London three-piece lean into their muscular live sound to deliver a stripped down, straight to the gut collection of songs that once again combined crushing riffs with soaring harmonies to dizzying effect.
