Pothamus is a Belgian trio formed in Mechelen in 2013, comprising guitarist and vocalist Sam Coussens, bassist Michael Lombarts, and drummer Mattias M. Van Hulle.Their music blends repetitive riffage, floating drones, tribal percussion, and abrasive bass lines, creating immersive, trance-inducing soundscapes.Their debut album, 'Raya' (2020), received critical acclaim, with Louder describing it as "an epic post-sludge soundtrack."In February 2025, they released their sophomore album, 'Abur', through Pelagic Records, further honing their ritualistic sound.Pothamus has performed at notable venues and festivals, including Ancienne Belgique, Trix, Vooruit, ESNS, ArcTanGent, Motocultor, and Alcatraz.
