Maud the Moth is the solo project of Spanish-born, Scotland-based pianist, singer, and songwriter Amaya López-Carromero. Serving as her alter ego, Maud the Moth acts as a conduit for processing personal experiences, particularly themes of rootlessness, identity, and trauma. Drawing on her classical training, Amaya creates eclectic, emotionally charged music, using live looping to weave sonic tapestries of distorted pianos and haunting vocals. Her cathartic solo live performances have earned her invitations to prestigious events like Roadburn Festival, Primavera Sound, and Celtic Connections. With three full-length albums, including Orphnē (2021) and the 2023 collaborative album Bordando el Manto Terrestre, Maud the Moth continues to captivate listeners with her unique, deeply moving sound.
