Mew is a Danish alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Copenhagen. Known for their ethereal sound, they combine elements of indie rock, dream pop, and progressive rock, often blending lush melodies with intricate arrangements. Their music is characterised by soaring vocals, atmospheric textures, and complex song structures. Mew first gained international attention with Frengers (2003) and later albums such as And the Glass Handed Kites (2005) and Visuals (2017). The band is celebrated for their emotive, otherworldly soundscapes and ability to seamlessly merge accessible pop with experimental music.
