Oathbreaker is a genre-defying band whose sound merges post-metal, black metal, hardcore, and shoegaze into a deeply emotive and visceral sonic experience. Formed in Belgium in the late 2000s, the band quickly became a vital force in the international underground scene, known for their unflinching intensity, raw vulnerability, and transformative live performances.

Their 2016 full-length Rheia marked a creative and emotional apex — a deeply personal, cathartic record that resonated far beyond genre boundaries. Blending fragility with ferocity, Rheia redefined what extreme music could sound and feel like, and continues to influence a new generation of heavy artists years after its release.

Following a hiatus that began in 2018, the band is returning to the stage in 2026, starting with a highly anticipated performance at Roadburn — where they will play Rheia in its entirety, ten years after its release. Though the members remained creatively active during Oathbreaker’s dormancy (through projects such as Wiegedood, Siem Reap and Predatory Void), the spirit and weight of Oathbreaker’s music never truly went silent.

More than just a reunion, Oathbreaker’s re-emergence reaffirms the urgency, relevance, and emotional depth that have always set them apart. Their legacy is not only intact — it continues to grow.
